Globers
There’s a particularly tidy collection of people who contribute to the culture we’re creating and the work we’re delivering. If you’re keen to know more than their name you know what to do. Just saying…
Simon spun The Globe for the first time 16 years ago armed with a Commerce Degree, a Masters in Marketing, a love of words and brands, and about $12. He likes writing, designing, leading and thinking about stuff—a lot. He applies these design, writing, leadership and strategic skills to our clients, enjoying extremely good coffee on the journey. He’s hoping to double his money at some point.
Simon runs a bit, sings a bit, speaks a bit, cooks a bit and is married to Fiona. He and Fiona have a 4-year old daughter, Molly (also something to do with bits). Together, they pastor a church called The Big Table. Simon also leads BT RunClub: a running community for runners of all abilities. He loves Jesus and thinks people are marvelously complex pieces of work.
Nik received a Diploma in Graphic Design in 1998 and has consistently applied his prolific work ethic and fresh perspective to deliver design solutions that make clients giddy with unbridled enthusiasm. His natural grasp of design aesthetics extends from print to web to environmental and interior design. Nik loves branding—creating and nurturing them. He is clean and nurses a closet desire to work with architects—perhaps as much to do with his current building project as anything else.
One day, Nik will live only 5 minutes away from work but for now enjoys hanging out wherever Kevin Rudd’s hanging out and spending time with his wife, Kristy, and two boys: Hudson and Harper. He’s an exercise junkie who sporadically plays basketball.
One day, Rudy was here. We’re still not entirely sure how it happened but it really did. Rudy developed his strategic marketing skills, strong ideas and lust for direct mail over 15 years while building his own business: Breakthrough. A self-confessed direct mail guru, Rudy has done some great work for some key clients and Australia-wide accounts. About 10 minutes ago, he joined The Globe. It’s been great so far.
Rudy has been involved in developing and launching several businesses around Australia, offering clients creative and strategic solutions for their business, achieving exceptional results and winning several ‘Excellence in Marketing’ awards for his innovative marketing strategies.
Rudy has worked with client advertising budgets exceeding $1,000,000 per year including the successful launch of Australia’s fastest growing multinational franchise chain, ChequEXchange (with over 80 stores sold in the first 6 months), Tom’s Tyres and Brakes, Summit Homes, Rick Hart Retravision, Bartercard (National) and many more.
Rudy has also created a self-help marketing toolkit: Adpack. It’s a unique marketing ideas toolkit of 125,000 marketing ideas that have been tried successfully and profitably by corporations of all sizes and is an effective tool for brainstorming, lateral thinking and team building. He’s got boxes of ‘em in his garage if you’re keen!
Rudy enjoys board games, bridge, and chocolate covered caramel confectionery and is soon to add quality coffee to his list. He is married to Charmaine and has two daughters.
Ben Hagley fronted up to The Globe with a tasty portfolio and 3mm of hair. Demonstrating that hair was no pre-requisite to design smarts, we hired him immediately.
Ben came to us equipped with a Diploma of Graphic Design and a BA of Fine Art. He arrived fresh from a 12-month contract as an in-house designer for a safety training company where he overhauled their corporate identity, style guide and collateral. He brings to The Globe a depth of design and illustrative skills that we relish.
Ben is married to Kaerin, has two children (Aree and Finn) and has been known to ride a bike.
Sarisa joined The Globe in early 2011. A tenacious customer, Sarisa is unlikely to take no for an answer, should you consider paying late! She’s more likely to call and email you until payment is the only option. For those who haven’t seen her, she’s roughly 2.1m tall and weighs around 200kg. For those who have seen her, you’ll understand that those measurements are very approximate. Sarisa has a keen eye for detail and patrols the accounts of The Globe with rigorous endeavour.
Megan heard our plaintive cry for someone who could juggle many balls, multi-task and keep the globers honest. Joining us in October 2008, Megan’s role is managing the flow of work through the Globe – making sure we’re on task, on brief and on budget. In many cases, she’s the glue between the Globe and the client.
With a wealth of experience managing the production of the design department of Asgard (a national financial services company), Megan had the combination of production and account management service we’ve been hankering for.
We don’t really know whether she can juggle at all just yet but a fetish for whiteboards goes a long way in our books.
Enrico joined The Globe in May 2010. Initially we were confronted by the number of syllables in his name but, having settled on various methods of abbreviation, it’s all been working out pretty well.
Enri has ten years experience working in studios across Perth and Melbourne—predominantly, REB Design in Perth and Lemonade in Melbourne. Over this period he worked on a diverse range of projects for clients such as Ericsson, Channel 7, Möet Hennessey, Yalumba and Alannah Hill.
Rico’s experience in working on projects both small and large encompassing brand identity, publications, packaging and interactive media. His firm belief is that the ‘big idea’ results in meaningful and often witty design solutions. His passion and dedication to the craft of design, illustration and photography has been recognised by the industry, with awards from AGDA, DIA, Desktop, MADC and PADC amongst others.
EB’s entry has coincided with an underwhelming phase of coffee quality for The Globe but, for the record, he takes a flat white.
